North Shore Maui is a breathtaking region known for its stunning natural beauty, lush landscapes, and vibrant culture. This area is characterized by dramatic cliffs, pristine beaches, and turquoise waters, making it a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and beach lovers alike.
Epicures and foodies will do well on the North Shore. Line up for the succulent fish ‘n chips at the always-buzzing Pāʻia Fish Market, a popular spot since the ‘80s. There’s Mana Foods, grocery store/community meeting spot, serving raw foods for grab-and-go meals or beach picnics; and Flatbread Company for creative wood-fire pizzas with Maui pineapple and kalua pork. Dine at Mama’s Fish House, an institution where classic cocktails and seafood are a must. Baked on Maui is the place in Haʻikū for breakfast: make room for the sizable fresh-baked cinnamon rolls or grilled focaccia sandwiches.
A small former 1870s plantation village, Pāʻia Town is authentic and funky. It’s filled with windsurfers, but also with a growing element of design, wellness and food-minded local entrepreneurs. Hit the beach for snorkeling, wave or kite surfing, then shop the lifestyle and fashion boutiques, surf shops and galleries, and sample the local craft brew and fresh-caught fish.
The Sacred Garden of Maliko is truly an off-the-beaten-path Maui treasure! Not too many people know about the Sacred Garden in Haiku, and the land on which it resides has some pretty cool history.
Today, the Sacred Garden of Maliko still has much to offer to the Maui community and visitors. Although this Maui locale is “spiritual,” it is non-denominational and is open to those of all religious beliefs. You will see little keepsakes and collectibles throughout the grounds that embrace all types of beliefs, including those of Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Druidry, and many more.
The guidelines for walking the labyrinths are to “walk with an open heart and an open mind.” The Sacred Garden also offers a Full Moon Labyrinth Walk, open to the public each month.
Head to their website to find a full calendar of events. These include Labyrinth walks, aromatherapy and essential oil classes, energy medicine classes, and much more.
